From the GFWC IL State President

THERE’S NO PLACE LIKE GFWC ILLINOIS!

We, as GFWC Illinois clubwomen, survived the global pandemic, and it is true – we are not in Kansas anymore! Like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, who did not travel alone on her road, neither did we. Together, we learned new ways to stay connected to the overcome the obstacles or challenges we may have faced and changed the ways we conducted our business at hand. All to better the place we call home – GFWC Illinois!

We are leaders, we are innovators, and we are survivors. We are an organization of lollipop kids who enhance the lives of others while keeping those flying monkeys at bay. GFWC Illinois Clubwomen use our hearts, brains, and courage to chart a path forward and find the rainbows, all with a sense of humor!

Courage means taking action.  You continue to say “YES” to GFWC Illinois, and as Glynda the Good Witch would say – “My wish for you is that your courageously share your enthusiasm with others”, so that we, GFWC Illinois can expand our membership to those who live the volunteer spirit and make a difference in their community.

At the end of her journey, Dorothy clicked her ruby red slippers together and wished for “no place like home.”  GFWC Illinois is my home, and it is where your heart is. Like home, we, GFWC Illinois enhance the power of our clubwomen as we value our differences in thought, style, culture, ethnicity, and experiences. Diversity and inclusion strengthen our organization by brining innovative ideas, new ways of looking at an old idea, and eliminating ideas that do not serve our purpose any longer. Your ideas can and will influence the future of our organization, as well as shape the future of our children and communities.

As we follow the yellow brick road together, remember that Dorothy taught us that all a girl needs is a really nice pair of sparkly shoes, a very loyal dog and to remember that –

It is not where you go,
But the people you meet along the way,
And the Destiny you create for yourself!
