As we begin to wind down our summers and prepare for the back-to-school swing, many clubs are gearing up for their 2014-2015 club year! August is traditionally a planning month for new administrations as they prepare to lead their members into another year of service and philanthropy. But it is also a perfect time to host an informal membership meet and greet, before the busy club year even begins!
Consider hosting a Thursday night backyard BBQ or a Sunday brunch to welcome potential new members into your club. Be sure to address all membership requirements your club may have in your presentation (keep it brief!), then allow guests to mingle and meet members of your club. It is a great way to start your club year off right – with NEW MEMBERS! And please remember, I would love to attend your club’s meet and greets, new member installations, club fundraisers and events! Just be sure to drop me a note with a few weeks lead time.
I also would like to invite you all to attend the 2014 Great Lakes Region Conference October 10-12 in Frankenmuth, MI, home of the World’s Largest Christmas Store – BRONNER’S! So get a group of your gal pals together and schedule this road trip today! You can tour, shop and sightsee Friday, October 10th, then check in to The Bavarian Inn Lodge, where the conference is being held. The conference kicks off with a banquet Friday night, hosted by the GFWC MI Federation and wraps after the Saturday night banquet, though many ladies will be staying to do more shopping on Sunday! All details can be found on the registration form below. Be sure to register by September 7th for room reservations and September 21st for the conference. Hope to see you all there!
Also, the latest GFWC IL Clubwoman Magazine is available at www.gfwcilliniois.org. Be sure to download your copy today as we are moving to an all-electronic format for the magazine.
In closing, best wishes for a successful kickoff to your club year and remember, it takes just ONE VOICE to get things started!
