Hello to all my fellow Illinois Juniors! Hoping your summers are going fabulously well as we are preparing to ramp up for another awesome club year! I recently returned from the GFWC Annual Convention, which was held in Hollywood Florida. I was honored to attend as our GFWC IL LEADS candidate. What an experience!
Each state selected one club member to attend the day-long seminar which was enriching and inspiring! I will be giving my full report at the Great Lakes Regional Conference in Indianapolis this October. I hope to see many of you there, but I will just let you know that every one of your clubs should review the LEADS information you will receive in your fall packets and nominate your club’s next rising leadership star!
Other highlights of the Convention included watching our very own Illinois Juniors Deb Strahanoski and Becky Weber in action; Deb is serving as the 2012-2014 GFWC Treasurer and Becky serves as the 2012-2014 GFWC Director of Junior Clubs! The Illinois delegation was so very proud of these ladies each and every day of the Convention. And when our GFWC IL Director of Junior Clubs, Trisha Schafer presented the Illinois Flag during the Opening Ceremonies, there was not a dry eye in our section!

Lastly, I know many clubs are in the process of holding their cross-over board meetings so I’d like to just say WELCOME and THANK YOU! WELCOME to all the new club presidents, executive committee members and board chairs and THANK YOU to all who have served in these leadership roles over the past year. Your service is most appreciated!
