Happy 2016 GFWC IL Juniors!
Hoping that each of you are doing well in this first week of the New Year! After all the celebrations trickle away, we find ourselves gearing up for the biggest party of the year, the 121st Annual State Convention! Hard to believe but it is already upon us. Madam President Diane Addante is putting the finishing touches on the Convention Call as we speak! Many fun and exciting things are planned so I hope you all will join us at the President Abraham Lincoln Springfield Hotel, located at 701 East Adams Street in Springfield, IL May 12th – 14th, 2016.
We will be announcing our Junior Leadership Award Winners at the Unity Luncheon on Friday, May 14th, and then immediately celebrating all of your club and district accomplishments at the afternoon Junior Business Session so please plan accordingly! In fact, reservations are now open. All information can be found here. Hotel Reservation Form 2016
Of course, in order to receive awards, you all must do one very important thing….REPORT!! Club Presidents, please make sure your committee chairs who served from January 1, 2015 – December 31, 2015 complete their reporting duties in a timely matter and that all club reports are submitted by February 1, 2016. This is the ONLY way your club or its leaders can be recognized at Convention. District Directors, please reach out to your Club Presidents and check in on them! They may need your assistance! And Club Presidents, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your District Director or our Junior Dean of Chairmen Cherie Sieger with any questions.
I know many clubs will be holding installations in April and May so please remember to invite Jeanette and I – we love to meet our club members and really love installing new club officers! Additionally, I’m looking forward to meeting with our Central Region Club Presidents for an informational one-day retreat in late February; watch your mail for the invite! I will also post all details here and on Facebook.
In closing, please remember my challenge to all Junior Clubs. All clubs who donate $250 or more to Children’s Research Foundation will be included on a special plaque that will be given to Pat Broggi from CRF at the Unity Luncheon on Friday, May 14th. You won’t want to miss out on this special opportunity to highlight the 40th Anniversary of our first gift to the organization! Be sure to get your checks into GFWC IL Headquarters and clearly mark “For CRF” in the memo section of your check.
Wishing you all a wonderful winter and I look forward to seeing you all at our State Board Meeting in March and at our 121st Annual State Convention in May. Best of luck with reporting; can’t wait to celebrate with ONE VOICE!
Until then, I remain yours in Federation Friendship,
Karyn
