Hello GFWC IL Juniors!

With 2014 reporting behind us, we can turn our focus to what’s happening NOW! And so much is happening over the next few months – make sure your club is “in the know”! One way to be up on the latest events is to sign up for Key Notes, our GFWC IL e-newsletter.If you haven’t already done so, sign up today and don’t miss another issue!

Is your club creating a Pinwheels for Prevention garden in support of Prevent Child Abuse Illinois? Clubs who notify us by April 3 that they are doing a garden will appear on a banner displayed at State Convention in May.  Also be sure to get your city officials involved in your club’s garden. Send out a press release about your club’s efforts and then be sure to post your garden pictures to the GFWC IL Junior Facebook page!

Another way to support PCA IL is to attend our Blue Ribbon Fashion Show on April 12th at the Bolingbrook Golf Club in Bolingbrook. Reservation forms are available online and in the 2015 Convention Issue of Clubwoman Magazine. Deadline to register is March 20. Hope to see you and your club there!

We have a new GFWC IL Education project to announce! A special literacy project for children has been established by Jo Koenig and Sara Gilbert, General and Junior Education Chairmen. Jo and Sara have suggested that we participate in the “Children’s Literacy Fill the Shelves” Project. In an effort to inspire of love of reading in children, the following ideas are suggested:

• Host a free book exchange at a school or community center

• Begin a Book-a-Baby project and donate a book to each baby born at a local hospital

• Support a Birthday Book project where children receive a book on their birthday

• Adopt a family in need.

Please support this new project within your clubs and encourage children in your community to learn to love reading!

Lastly, please be sure to ask your club presidents to share their 2015 Convention Issue as it contains all you’ll need to know about the GFWC IL 120th State Convention as well as info on this year’s LEADS seminar. If you are considering a leadership role within your club, district or State Board, please attend this important day of leadership training. You will NOT be disappointed!

As always, if I may be of service to you or your club, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me!

Until then, I remain yours in Federation Friendship,

~Karyn
