The club was chartered in 1939 as the Sandoval Woman’s Club; and, as a result of a recent by-law change, is now known as GFWC/IL Sandoval Woman’s Club.  We have had 37 different presidents.  The club originally wrapped bandages during WWII and today is involved in a myriad of community projects.  Some recent projects include creation of a Veteran’s Memorial, Welcome signs at the entrance to the Village, support of the local volunteer fire department, Shalom activities, Arts in the Community and contributes to uncountable charitable, civic and community activities.

Our club is proud to have active committees in the GFWC Illinois Departments:  Arts, Conservation, Education, Home Life/Health, International Affairs, and Empowering Women.  Projects:  Fund Raising, Membership, and Public Relations.  A Safe Place for Every Child and Domestic Violence Awareness are both Club-Wide endeavors.

Our annual Club projects include upkeep of the Veteran’s Memorial, Project Pride, Volunteer Fire Department, Christmas Auction for children and Shalom, a non-profit outreach program for the needy and co-sponsor of the bi-monthly Red Cross Blood Drive.

All of these are dedicated to the welfare and pride of our community.
Photo following was taken at the annual Sandoval Fireman’s Picnic parade held on Saturday, July 28, 2007.  Shown below are Members Mary F. Ahlf, Bonnie Richeson, and Edith Leffew, Secretary Charlotte Carson, Treasurer Carole Jourdan, President Kitty Thompson, Members Ellie Sucler, Mary Geiger and future member Brook Sulcer.  Members walked the parade route with the banner and distributed candy to the children and a Club brochure to mothers, sisters and grandmothers inviting them to attend and/or join the GFWC/IL Sandoval Woman’s Club

October Breast Cancer Awareness.  Our area has a Breast/Cervical Cancer Center for women without insurance.  Connie Jackson Rn, from the Center, approached our club with a request for the "Me Basket".  The "Me Basket" is for cancer treatment patients and contains 20-30 wrapped small gifts for the patient to open one after each treatment.  Our club donated $50 and members donated items for the baskets such as candy, gum, lotion etc.

Make A Difference Day 2009:  The club collected kindly used clothing and household articles for a rummage sale and provided baked goods for a bake sale that was held on October 24, 2009.  A total of $400 was earned from the sale of baked goods and approximately 1/2 of the clothing/household items.  The balance of the clothing/household was donated to clothing pantries in the area.  The cash earned went for the purchase of a "GFWC/IL Sandoval Woman's Club welcomes you to Sandoval" sign.  Contact with the local churches, the 1st National Bank of Sandoval and the local school district promoted 3 additional signs of welcome.  The signs will great travelers at each of the four U.S. highway Village limits.
