Public Relations~ Pat Forth
I hope all had a great summer!! As we begin this new meeting year, I'd like to remind everyone to spread the word that Antioch Woman's Club is a member of the General Federation of Women's Clubs which is an International Service Organization. The GFWC website gfwc.org, says "...in 2007 GFWC and its members raised nearly $20million on behalf of more than 68,000 projects, and volunteered more than 4.2 million hours." It's amazing to think that we are a part of these numbers and of this great world wide organization!! All of us have gifts and talents to contribute to our Club, so consider serving on a committee. For further information about what our committees do, see our yearbook for my phone number or email address, and contact me.
Don't forget to let me know when you have a project and I will take pictures and write up a story for the papers. Please keep your eyes open for any news articles and please bring the ENTIRE PAGE from the newspaper to me. Here's to a great year of service to community, fun, food and friendship!!

RELAY FOR LIFE ~ Linda Anne Valentino
On July 26th and 27th, the Antioch Woman's Club participated in the "Relay for Life" an American
Cancer Society fundraiser at Caboose Park on Route 132.
Kay Blake set up a tent, and I brought tables, a few chairs, cookies (of course),
and a cooler with drinks (non-
The Walk was amazing. First the survivors of cancer were cheered on as they proceeded around the track. Next the caregivers did their lap around the track while being cheered on. Then everyone joined in. It was exhilarating!!!!
When the sun finally set, hundreds of luminaria lights were lit to remember those who lost their
fight against cancer.
To honor those in our club who have lost their lives to cancer AWC purchased a luminaria in their memory. The light symbolizes hope and perseverance in the fight against this deadly disease.
Those who represented AWC were:

In addition to our donation, many of the members knitted hats and sewed caps to sell at this event. They were gorgeous and we sold many. We also sold breast exam gloves.
Thank you to all who made donations, walked, sewed, knitted, crocheted. I hope to see more of you next year at this wonderful event. Please remind us to bring some flashlights!!!

Here’s hoping we all make new acquaintances as well as new friends.
HOSTESS DUTIES
1. Each hostess committee has two head hostesses. It is their job to contact all the women on their committee and assign them whatever jobs are necessary. The hostess committee may pick a “theme” for the refreshment table unless the officers have a “specific” theme in mind. The hostess committee supplies refreshments, coffee, tea, sugar, cream, plastic cups, napkins, dishwashing soap, towels etc. There are some supplies i.e. table clothes and coffee carafes, if needed.
2. Chairs and head table will be set up in Senior Center. Hostesses will set up refreshment and reception tables.
3. The head hostesses assign a hostess to give the “Thought for the Day.” They are to inform the president who will be doing this. This is given at every meeting. If the meeting is a luncheon, another hostess is to give the “Blessing.” The president is to be informed of this person’s name.
4. Coffee makers are available for our use in the kitchen.
5. It is the responsibility of the Hostess Committee to clean up after the meeting.
6. The head hostesses will calculate the amount owed by each hostess for coffee, tea, plates etc. It is also expected that each hostess assigned to a certain month, attend the meeting that month to carry out her duties. If she is unable to attend she should switch duties with someone else on another month.
